"If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin, and heal their land."  (II Chron. 7:14)

Article Dated: 12-14-07 "What Will Christians Do This Year for Christmas?"

Well as we all know, it is that time of year again.  The anti-Christian warriors are out in full swing and the Liberal Bias News Media is making sure the issue stays alive.  We are fed a hefty diet of "separation of church and state" stories from every self proclaimed authority day after day until many give in to what they hear as being the "gospel truth."
We have workers in shopping centers who are afraid to say "Merry Christmas" and businesses are afraid to play songs or display nativity scenes.  It seems as if every other "holiday" affords liberty and freedom without repercussion yet the Christian community has to walk on egg shells.  Our children are encouraged to forsake our traditional heritage of the Christmas celebration.  And of course God forbid that we mention the name of Jesus.
How did we get this far away from where we started?  How did we end up having to be cautious in certain public places during the holiday season?  How did we become a nation "under God" and yet afraid to celebrate the birth of His Son?  We literally have sold out and given our heritage to the heathen.
I am certainly glad to be in the land of the free and the home of the brave, but that is not just for the liberals and God-haters.  We are the result of brave men and women who came here looking for a place to raise their families without fear or indimidation due to their faith.  I understand that everyone has a voice.  But if I am to tolerate others, then does that men that the same toleration does not extend to us of the Christian Faith?  I think not!  We have a God-given right to the liberty that our fathers enjoyed.  Imagine President Lincoln walking into a public school and rebuking the teachers for leading the children in "Silent Night."  How ridiculous!  Yet today the songs our children sing cannot offend the muslim, the Jew, the African-American, the Hindu, and the list goes on.  I want other cultures to celebrate their heritage and be free to live together and learn from each other.  But the lines of toleration runs both ways.  I want to hear your songs but as well don't prevent me from singing mine.
I know there is no simple solution to a complicated soceity.  We are in the midst of literally being stripped of 200 years of history.  It is being rewritten every year and little by little, the Christmas season becomes a materialistic, socialistic, smorgasborg of humanistic activities void of anything spiritual.  Before long, it will be possible to invision a Christmas without Christ.
What will we as Christians do this year?  Will we apathetically sit back and go with the flow while this happens?  The real need is a spiritual awakening.  No better time to be reminded of the importance of God in society than during the celebration of His Son's birth.  Speak about Him everywhere you go.  Wish all a Merry Christmas.  Display nativity scenes and messages of the season.  Teach your children the wonderful songs of our heritage.  Attend your church faithfully during the holidays and give God the recognition that He so deserves.  Share your faith with your neighbor.  Do acts of kindness and compassion to those less deserving.  Love your family.  Cherish the memories you are making.  Be careful to give God thanks for our remaining freedoms and don't forget to share the love and joy of the Season!  That is what Christmas is all about.  Love, peace, joy, happiness, compassion, and concern for our fellow man.  That is the only way to insure that Christmas remains a vital part of our lives and  in the life of our nation.  So Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus!  You are the real reason for the season!
